Ⅰ. Brief Introduction to TUST

  Tianjin University of Science and Technology is located in Tianjin City, the third largest city in China. It is founded in 1958. TUST is a comprehensive university which gives priority to engineering while develops engineering,science,arts, economics, management and law with balance. It is a full-time general institution of higher learning founded by the central and local governments and run chiefly by the local government. The university is one of the key projects of construction in Tianjin. The university is qualified to award bachelor's,master's and doctor's degrees and accept international students.There are 18 institutes and departments.Currently, the university has authority to award bachelor’s degree to 56 specialties,and to award master's degree to 24 specialties and engineering master’s degree to 6 domains, and to award do-ctor’s degree to 1 first-degree discipline and to 10 specialties.The total acreage is 1,060,000 square meters. The architectural acreage is 300,000 square meters. There are more than 720,000 books and more than 2,500 domestic and foreign magazines in the library. The library also supplies with more than 10,000 books and 200,000 magazines on line. There are about 15,000 students studying in the university. The university has a group of experts and professors who have rich teaching experience and scientific research ability. Among all 1,400 staff, there are 147 doctor and master tutors and more than 400 teachers who have senior professional title.
  The university insists on the international school running mode,and has established a relationship of cooperation and communication with more than 40 universities and institutions from USA, Japan, etc. Every year, dozens of world famous pro-fessors and scholars come to the university to deliver the courses,do the researches, communicate and make speeches so that a multi-layer international cooperative education has been equipped from undergraduates'education to doctors'education.All the established majors recruit international students. International students from more than 10 count-ries have been recruited. The university sends excellent undergraduates to study abroad every year. The university set down a teaching outline according to the characteristics of international students. The pertinent teaching, practicing and examining approaches are adopted. The Scholarship of Tianjin University of Science and Technology was set up for international students, and good boarding conditions and service facilities are pro-vided, all of which guaranteed the quality of international students’ education. There is the International Exchange Center supplying dormitories for the foreign students. Ea-ch dormitory is equipped with air conditioner, desk lamp, toilet, and Internet access. The International Exchange Center is equipped with public toilets, washing machines, IC telephones, which supply the fine living conditions for the foreign students.
